About the Council

Your neighbourhood, your ideas

In the coming years both our city and the community that calls it home, will continue to grow and change.

We want your ideas about how we can make our city extraordinary so current and future generations can live an extraordinarily good life in Moonee Valley.

Community health and wellbeing, meeting the needs of a growing population, transport and climate change are just some things we need to address.

Attend a neighbourhood session! Share your ideas online!

Planning for today and tomorrow

We are developing ideas and plans for the short and long-term evolution of the city. These plans will be informed by your ideas and research on how we can make the city more liveable for current and future generations.

There are two documents being prepared:

  • The Council Plan 2017-21, integrating the Health Plan
  • Moonee Valley 2040: our long-term plan for the city

The Council Plan 2017-21 integrating the Health Plan

In the past, the Council Plan and Health and Wellbeing plan have been developed separately. This time around, we are combining them.

Check out our Council Plan page and read our Municipal Profile, Public Health and Wellbeing Background Paper and the Health Plan 2013-17 Evaluation to get a sense of how we currently fare.

Register your interest below if you want to be the first to know when the new combined plan will be out for community feedback.

Moonee Valley 2040: our long-term plan for the city

MV2040 will be a long-term plan that looks to improve the liveability of our city and will be guided by three themes:

People  Place  Movement

  • health and wellbeing
  • population change and growth
  • lifestyles and leisure

  • changing climate
  • housing
  • need for community facilities

  • transport
  • moving around our city more efficiently
  • “20 minute neighbourhoods”

One of the outcomes of the long-term plan will be a series of local neighbourhood plans, highlighting the unique needs of individual neighbourhoods. Over time, our neighbourhoods will evolve to support people to live even healthier and more connected lives in Moonee Valley now and into the future.

To get a sense of where we have come from, how we currently fare, and what we might need to consider in the future, read the Moonee Valley 2040 Background Paper (pdf, 3MB).
