Welcome back for another exciting year of programming, activities and events at Bowes Avenue Community Centre. 

We offer a range of social, recreational, educational and community supported activities for all members of the community.

Please note: There will be no programs running on Monday, 13 March (Labour Day) Wednesday, 15 February and Wednesday, 15 March (Immunisation days).

Children's Programs

B Minor Music

A music program created and led by an experienced early childhood educator and trained performer.

Thursdays 2 February – 30 March (9 sessions)
9.45am – 10.15am (1-3yrs)
10.30 – 11am (3-5yrs)
Full fee: $60; Casual: $8

Kids Beats

An introductory class to gymnastics, dance and yoga designed specifically for toddlers and pre-schoolers. Kids Beats provides a sensory environment which allows your child to explore body movement and develop their physical, social and emotional well-being. Suitable for children aged 2-5 years. Bookings essential.

Adult programs

Water colour painting and drawing

Learn the art of watercolour painting from a professional artist who is also an experienced teacher. You will be painting still lives of fruit, flowers and work with your own photographs. You will learn to mix colour, apply washes, and progress through the various stages of making a watercolour painting. Individual expression and style will be encouraged. Open to all abilities. More experienced artists will have the opportunity to extend their skills. Small class of ten. Bookings essential.

Power Yoga

Improve your strength and flexibility while burning calories in this fun and supportive class. Suitable for beginners and those with experience. Bookings encouraged.

Strength and conditioning training

Start your day with this popular exercise class! Improve your health and wellbeing in a friendly and supportive environment. Stay for an energy morning tea after your workout. Free fitness assessment available. Bookings essential.

Yoga

Suitable for beginners and those with some experience. Great fun, excellent for stress relief. Bookings essential.

Patchwork and quilting for beginners

Learn the basic skills to create your own beautiful quilt by sewing machine. Become a confident quilter and experience the joy of this tradition in a friendly class atmosphere. Bookings essential.

Strength and conditioning training – Level 2

Improve your fitness and get a full body workout. Improve your strength with a range of equipment while increasing your mobility. A great next step for those doing the mobility classes and looking for a new challenge. Suitable to all fitness levels.

Creative card making

Learn how to make your own cards in a positive and supportive environment. All materials supplied. No previous experience needed. Suitable for all ages. Small group of ten. Bookings essential.

Community choir

Love to sing? No matter what experience you have, singing offers opportunities to learn, grow and express who you are. It can improve your wellbeing, happiness and sense of community. Delivered by a professional musician accompanying the group on guitar, you'll learn some easy songs and enjoy the experience of singing in a group. No singing experience necessary, everyone is welcome.

Gentle exercise

A gentle exercise class tailored to your ability and interest. Very friendly and motivating environment. Stay for a sandwich lunch from 12.30pm to 1pm.

Community Garden

A volunteer garden program for community members to grow food together, nurture friendships, share knowledge and grow community spirit.

General information

  • Classes are generally paid for on a term basis.
  • Casual fees are set for each program based on full fee weekly cost and length of program.
  • First child full fee/early bird, second child and subsequent child(ren) 50 per cent of applicable fee
  • Places are limited and will be allocated in order of contact. Payment of fees for the term will secure your place.
  • A minimum number of enrolments are required before a class can commence.
  • Refunds will only be issued where a course has been cancelled by Bowes Avenue Community Centre.
  • The centre is closed for classes and activities on public holidays and immunisation dates.
  • No programs are delivered during immunisation services at Bowes Avenue Community Centre. Immunisation is run every third Wednesday of the each month.
