Small business clinics in 2012

Want to talk to someone about starting up a business or chat about issues facing your business? Beginning February 2012, we will be hosting four free one-on-one mentoring sessions each month. Register now for your session - simply email your business name and contact details to business@mvcc.vic.gov.au and  the Economic Development team will contact you to book your session in.

February 2012

Manufacturers – Group Program

This program has been designed for manufacturing, aviation and technology firms and is heavily subsidised by the Department of Business and Innovation. Businesses are invited to participate in a unique program giving you the opportunity to explore your business purpose and drive business growth. 

The program will be delivered over 8 weeks consisting of seven sessions involving 3 half day group workshops and four 2-hour one-on-one sessions.

Program facilitator, Ben Flavel of Neo Cogs, is a highly skilled, lateral thinker with over twelve years experience in business development, brand management and strategy development. Ben’s expertise lies in assisting companies through innovation creation and evaluation, culture development and strategic renewal.

The program will work to identify and produce the following:

  • strategic overview document
  • direction/mission and key strategies
  • vision and 12 month goals
  • 3-5 key objectives
  • business model
  • innovation templates
  • strategic Foresight models and ideologies
  • the chance to network with similar businesses in their local area and gain multiple business viewpoints within the same industry

When: 8 week program starting Wednesday, 29 February 2012

Cost: $500 per business

Women in Business Lunch

Don’t miss our key note speaker Larke Riemer, Director of Women's Markets for the Westpac Banking Corporation, who was awarded with the World of Difference award by The International Alliance for Women for her efforts in advancing economic empowerment of women worldwide. Larke’s captivating nature and her inspirational personal story will entertain, whilst she shares her comprehensive knowledge of the impact women can have on the Australian business landscape.

The MC for the lunch is global networking specialist, Robyn Henderson, a dynamic businesswoman with a wealth of knowledge in the power of networking. To date, she has authored and contributed to over 25 books, has been listed in the Businesswomen’s Hall of Fame and has owned a spot in the Top 100 Spirited Women of Australia.

Guests at the lunch will be given the opportunity to participate in fun activities, network with other attendees, and promote their businesses at the event.

Get Connected Green Business breakfast

Marketing your Environmental Business Credentials

A growing number of clients and funding providers prefer businesses who can demonstrate their environmental responsibilities – accurately and truthfully. In a partnership with VECCI, Moonee Valley City Council present this half day workshop that covers why and how to promote the environmentally friendly efforts of your business.

Topics covered include:

  • essential characteristics of environmental marketing
  • benefits of marketing your environmental credentials
  • the potential of the 'green' consumer as a target market
  • how to avoid the pitfalls of 'greenwashing'
  • easy steps you can undertake to communicate your environmental achievements and initiatives

Where: Council Chambers, Moonee Valley Civic Centre, 9 Kellaway Avenue, Moonee Ponds

When: Session 1 - Monday, 14 May, 6pm-7.30pm, Session 2 - Monday, 21 May, 6pm-7.30pm (participants must attend both sessions)
