What is the "Capital Works" or "Local Roads Program"
We maintain an extensive network of approximately 426 kilometres of local roads.
A local road works program (Capital Works) is prepared annually and implemented to ensure road assets such as kerb and channel, road pavement and drainage are maintained and upgraded.
Priority road repairs
The condition of all local road surfaces is periodically assessed for cracking and other defects.
All local road sections have been ranked in priority-order for major maintenance work based on refular condition assessment and the most efficient use of funds.

Works on Buckley Street, West Essendon
We will be undertaking stormwater drainage upgrade works along the south side of Buckley Street, West Essendon from Batman Street to the creek (west of Clydebank Road) between January and April 2012.
To minimise traffic disruption the works will occur in three stages. Stage 1 is at the intersection of Hoffmans Road. Stage 2 is west of Hoffmans Road to the creek. Stage 3 is east of Hoffmans Road to Batman Street.
Stage 1: This stage is to be complete by February 1, 2012. The bus stops on Buckley Street near Hoffmans Road and Ogilvie Street will be closed.
Stage 2: The bus stop on Buckley Street near Hoffmans Road will be closed.
Stage 3: Batman Street at Buckley Street will be closed to traffic. The bus stop on Buckley Street at Ogilvie Street will be closed.
One lane in each direction on Buckley Street will be closed for the duration of the works.
Access to properties on the south side of Buckley Street will be restricted during each stage of work. You will be contacted in advance if your property will be affected.
Signs will be placed on Buckley Street and Hoffmans Road to let you know of any upcoming changes to traffic conditions.
