About the exhibition
Artecycle is an annual non-acquisitive sculpture and installation competition with a prize pool of $14,000 including:
- $10,000 East Keilor & Strathmore Community Bank® Award
- $3,000 Incinerator Gallery Award
- $1,000 Incinerator People's Choice Award
This year entries were received from overseas and every state and territory in Australia.
Artists are asked to explore the themes of environmentalism and sustainability using either recycled materials or materials that would otherwise be considered disposable.
Artecycle 2012 was judged by Doug Hall, AM, Australian Commissioner, Venice Biennale, 2011 and former director of the Queensland Art Gallery. See who he chose below.
