Information for teachers

Essendon Traffic Sshool

The Essendon Traffic School is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012!

The following information is for school programs and group programs.

Education Programs

Bike and Road safety

Sadly, many children are killed or injured on our roads in avoidable accidents. Practising traffic safety skills from a young age will help develop traffic awareness and responsible attitudes towards sharing our roads.

Pedal Power

With current concerns about the environment and fuel costs, bikes are a great alternative to cars for short trips. This fun and interactive new programme teaches kids about sustainability and how simple things like riding a bike can help protect the environment.

Healthy Lifestyles

Australia is fast becoming one of the most obese nations in the world. From a young age, kids must be encouraged to eat healthy foods and become involved in regular exercise, so they continue to make healthy lifestyle decisions throughout their lives. Gaining confidence riding their bikes can encourage students to pursue this fun fitness activity.

Bike Education

Learn more about bicycle safety at the Essendon Traffic School through the Bike Ed program. Bike Ed is suitable to children between the ages of 9 and 13 (years 4 to 7 at school) and can be delivered by schools at the Essendon Traffic School or in a community setting. A Bike Ed Kit has also been developed especially for teachers to help deliver this training. For more information on how we can assist your school with Bike Ed please contact Transport Project Officer on 9243 8888.

Bookings

Bookings are essential for all education sessions. Bookings must be made at least two weeks before the desired event date. Bookings can be made all year around.
