Membership
- Membership of the library is free and open to anyone on completion of the membership application form and production of identification including current address. Members’ addresses and other personal details are confidential and will not be disclosed to anyone by library staff unless in response to a Court Order.
- Applicants aged less than 18 years must have their application form signed by an adult who agrees to take responsibility for their usage of library materials and equipment, including information accessed electronically (Internet).
- The library must be informed immediately of the loss or theft of a library card; or of a change name or address. There is a charge for replacement of a lost card.
- Members are responsible for any materials borrowed on their card and for ensuring that they are returned on time.
- You must bring your library card each time you borrow.

Loans
-
Up to twenty five items may be borrowed on each library card. Branch librarians may vary the number of items in some cases where required.
- The usual loan period is three weeks. Different loan periods apply to some categories of material and the Library has the right to vary the loan period when required. Items may be renewed twice personally, online or by telephone provided there is no one waiting for the particular title. When renewing by phone, borrowers are asked to have their membership card with them so that the relevant numbers can be read.
- Borrowers with overdue items are not permitted to borrow until these are returned and fines paid, or lost items paid for.
- Fines for overdue items will be charged at the rate of 25 cents per day per item. Members with outstanding fines are not permitted to borrow. This also applies to cards for which they have taken responsibility as guardians.
- Items must be returned during library opening hours or through the overnight return chute. Items left outside the library or pushed under the door while the library is closed will be charged for.
- The library tries to keep video tapes, DVDs and other audio visual materials in good repair. However, we accept no responsibility for damage to borrowers’ equipment caused by faulty tapes.
- The replacement charge for a lost or damaged item is the original cost of the item plus a processing charge, plus GST. Damage which can be repaired will be charged for at an amount determined by the Branch Librarian.
Reserves
- If the book you require is not available a reserve may be taken. Borrowers will be informed by email, post or telephone when the reserved item is available.
- The library will endeavour to purchase requested items not held in the collection if the requested titles are in line with the Library’s Collection Policy.
- Requested items which are out of print or which the Library has decided not to purchase will be brought in on Inter-Library Loan where possible. Borrowers are responsible to pay any overdue fines or replacement costs imposed by the lending library if the item is not returned by the due date. Any charges imposed by the lending library will be passed on to the borrower.
Conduct in the Library
- Smoking, eating, including chewing gum, and drinking are prohibited in the library.
- Library patrons are expected to behave in a manner that will not inconvenience or annoy other patrons. People using the study areas should be as quiet as possible. Mobile phone calls should be kept as brief as possible.
- Library staff have the right to request that patrons behaving in an inappropriate manner leave the building and to refuse them service. People who consistently behave in an inappropriate manner may be refused entry to the library for a specified period.
- Library staff reserve the right to deny access to anyone misusing computer facilities in any manner; including tampering with settings, displaying material judged to be inappropriate for viewing in a public place, or any other unacceptable behaviour.
- Large bags should be left in the spaces, if provided, near the door. The library takes no responsibility for bags or their contents.
- Hawking of goods is not allowed in the library.
- Children under the age of 10 years should not be left unsupervised in the library. Library staff may call the police in these situations.
