Home maintenance & inspections

Assistance in general home maintenance and repairs is available for frail aged and people with an intellectual or physical disability.

Services include:

  • installation of handrails and handheld showers
  • installation of smoke alarms and battery replacement
  • installation of ramps
  • changing lightbulbs
  • minor maintenance and general repairs

Services provided are those that do not require a qualified tradesperson to complete.

Eligibility

Fees

A minimal hourly fee, plus cost of materials and tip charges for rubbish removal, if applicable.

Prevent falls at home

The State Government’s Home Renovation Service provides free home inspections for pensioners to help prevent falls. You are eligible for this service if you own your own home or are renting privately, and are the current holder of a Commonwealth Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card and you are:

  • 60 years or older
  • a person with a disability
  • a carer for someone with a disability
