We’ve created a draft action plan to help make Moonee Valley a healthier, safer, more welcoming and fairer place, and we want you to have your say!
Moonee Valley Mayor Cr Samantha Byrne said the draft plan, which was endorsed by Council last night, focuses on reducing inequality through a place-based approach to planning and delivery of services.
“It recognises each neighbourhood in Moonee Valley is different and requires different approaches to achieve fairer outcomes,” Cr Byrne said.
“It also recognises that place-based approaches alone won’t address inequality. We’ve also identified target populations with a view to increase equality and social inclusion for everyone.”
Spokesperson for Future Communities Cr Rebecca Gauci Maurici said the draft Fair Action Plan was developed following significant background research and a series of external and internal engagement activities, as well as a community reference group.
“A lot of work has gone into making sure this plan addresses Moonee Valley’s diverse communities, and acknowledges that some of our community members experience significant social, cultural, recreational and economic barriers and difficulty accessing services,” Cr Gauci Maurici said.
“The draft plan includes 10 major programs to help guide Council’s planning and focus, such as celebrating diversity, economic participation, neighbourhood empowerment, inclusion and diversity in sport and active recreation, mental health and wellbeing, and affordable housing and homelessness.”
