Jarabi Band leads audiences on a dynamic journey from the ancient Manding Empire of West Africa to modern-day city life, weaving the timeless musical traditions of Guinea with contemporary sounds of Melbourne’s vivid music scene.  Led by visionary master musician Mohamed Camara, Jarabi crafts a unique fusion of infectious rhythms, intricate melodies and soul-stirring vocals, delivering an exciting sound which transcends cultural barriers and speaks a universal language, unifying people from diverse backgrounds. Jarabi Band’s debut album Duniama – In This World (2023, Music in Exile, with support from Creative Victoria) received critical acclaim, including a top 10 finalist placement in the 2024 Needle in the Hay competition, a 2024 Music Victoria Diaspora Award nomination, and a feature segment on ABC Radio National’s The Music Show. In 2024, Jarabi Band’s national album launch tour (delivered with support from Creative Australia) intoxicated audiences at some of the country’s most revered venues and events, including Melbourne Recital Centre, National Gallery of Victoria, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Dark Mofo, Mona Foma, Illawarra Folk Festival, St Kilda Festival and the High Country Hop.  Driven by a deep desire to share Guinea’s music and culture with the world, Mohamed has assembled a group of exceptionally talented musicians who share his vision.
