Gaffney Street Footbridge upgrade

Gaffney St Footbridge detour

Moonee Valley City Council in cooperation with Moreland City Council will soon be undertaking upgrade works of the Gaffney Street pedestrian footbridge in Strathmore.

Following a routine bridge inspection, Council workers found structural cracking at the western and eastern beam step joint of the bridge.
The upgrade will repair defective and cracking concrete beams and strengthen the reinforced concrete beams to make sure the bridge remains safe to use.

Council’s contractor, Axis Infrastructure Pty Ltd, intends to start these works on 12 July and complete it by 12 August 2021, weather permitting. During this time the footbridge will be closed.

At all stages of the works we will try to minimise disruption to residents while completing this important upgrade. We apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused by these works.
