The Minister for Local Government recently announced the release of the Discussion Paper for the Local Government Culture Project.
As you may be aware, the Discussion Paper has been developed by PricewaterhouseCoopers in partnership with eminent academics. It aims to better understand the factors influencing conduct and culture within local government and identify opportunities and initiatives the sector can implement to improve conduct and culture.
The Discussion Paper has been informed by a review of academic literature, recent reports, and interviews with key stakeholders from across the sector. It presents the outcomes of this research and consultation and is designed to generate broad sector discussion about ideas to improve local government culture and conduct.
The Discussion Paper poses 12 questions grouped in line with three key themes:
- Leadership experience and capability
- Councillor journey
- Early intervention and effective dispute resolution
