Who is Mamma's Kitchen?
Mamma’s Kitchen started during the pandemic in 2020 through funding from the State Government’s Working for Victoria initiative. The Council run program employs women from the Flemington and Ascot Vale Housing Estates to work from the kitchen in the Clocktower Centre. Here they cook, prepare and distribute culturally-appropriate and nutritious meals to those need.
Affectionately known as 'the Mamma's', these women are given the opportunity to develop new skills in a commercial kitchen.
This is soul food at its finest. Using ingredients bought fresh and almost always from local traders, the Mamma's African flare and flavours are filling the hearts of our community.
