Managing back-to-school worries

After a year like no other, local children are finally returning to school. For some kids, this will be a huge relief. For others it will mean anxiety and uncertainty.

One local business is offering parents support as they navigate Covid-19, school and the shutdown.

Talk To Ten (TT10) is a free ten-week webinar series to equip parents and teachers with skills to help children deal better with the stresses and changes of 2020.

The webinars are delivered by Maria Ruberto and her colleague Anthony Hurst. Maria is a psychologist who has been working with our community for over a decade from her practice, Salutegenics, in Keilor Road, Essendon North.

“Given that we are all suffering from screen fatigue, we decided to deliver a segment of 10 minutes of content at a time, over 10 weeks, with 10 topics,” Maria explained.

“All information is evidence-based and offers the ‘gold-standard’ of research and responses toward today’s youth and the issues they face.

“We already have more than 400 registrations confirmed for our first webinar.”

All parents require is ten uninterrupted minutes each week to attend the webinar. Those who wish to stay online have the opportunity to ask questions following each session.

TT10 is free, but registration is required.

Topics include:
* Signs your child might be worried or anxious
* Constructive conversations with children
* Living in a blended space during Covid-19
* Creating calm sleep in lockdown

The webinars are on Tuesday nights at 7pm, for ten weeks from 6 October.
