Moonee Ponds facelift allocated $180k for design works

Moonee Ponds Activity Centre

The Moonee Ponds Activity Centre is in line for a makeover, with the allocation of $180,000 funding to begin the design of new streetscape plans in Moonee Valley City Council’s 2021-22 Annual Budget.

Councillor Jacob Bettio pulled on his high-vis gear and visited the bustling Puckle Street earlier this year, to announce his excitement about Council’s $180,000 investment in designs for streetscape improvements in Moonee Ponds. The works are in line with MV2040 plans to beautify the Moonee Ponds shopping precinct.

The investment in the shopping strip streetscape comes as a piece of good-news for the community, as small-business precincts in Moonee Valley continue to be hard hit by COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions, which are in place until statewide vaccine targets are met.

Businesses in Moonee Ponds can look forward to more funding for parklets again this year! The budget includes $50,000 to support future outdoor dining and parklet programs in the municipality.

Council’s budget acts to reaffirm its commitment to helping businesses recover from the ongoing impacts of the pandemic, driven by the long-term MV2040 goal to create beautiful, thriving, vibrant and dynamic business precincts.
