Moonee Valley City Council

Cr Nicole Marshall _VV

Tell us about yourself

I'm a lawyer who lives with my husband and five young children in Ascot Vale.

I'm involved in a range of community organisations and, like many other parents, spend most of my weekends ferrying children around to activities!

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, listening to music, trivia nights and watching stand up comedy. I also love spending time with family and friends.

What five words best describe you?

  1. Hardworking
  2. Honest
  3. Responsive
  4. Considerate
  5. Community-minded

What do you hope to achieve in your term as Councillor?

At the end of my term, I hope to have been part of a council that made sensible decisions reflecting both the short and long term needs of the people of Moonee Valley. This is particularly so in relation to developments and issues arising out of developments such as parking, traffic management and protection of residential amenity. I also hope this council does all it can to protect and preserve our heritage, waterways and neighbourhood character.

I also hope that we will have improved the way Council engages with the community. It's important that community concerns and wishes are heard and understood by Council so that our decisions are fully informed and in the best interests of the community as a whole.

What do you think are Moonee Valley’s greatest strengths?

Moonee Valley is filled with beauty, opportunity and diversity.

Walk around Moonee Valley and you’ll see great parks, stunning period homes, bluestone laneways and the mighty Maribyrnong. We have wonderful shopping strips, each with their own character and feel. All around, we are surrounded by reminders of our heritage and history.

Most of all, we have a real sense of community and pride in where we live. You walk down the street and know your neighbours. Moonee Valley people look after each other and value what makes our community special. We also understand that it is worth fighting to preserve those things that make Moonee Valley so unique.
