Tell us about yourself
I was born and raised in Moonee Valley and have spent the majority of my life living here. I am married with a husband who was also born and raised here and we have a one year old daughter.
I am a Human Resources Manager so I understand the importance of managing people and resources well. I am also actively involved in our local community, and I am a proud member and former President of Strathmore Rotary Club.
I choose to live in Moonee Valley because of how special I think it is as a great place to live, work, play, study, and raise a family and I believe in its ability to be even greater.
Throughout my upbringing the importance of generosity, service, and advocacy were always instilled in us – so I am excited, honoured and very humbled by the opportunity to be able to serve the residents of Moonee Valley on Council.
What five words best describe you?
What do you hope to achieve in your term as Councillor?
There were several recurring themes that residents shared with me as important to them, and I hope to see their expectations realised in my time on Council.
- Transparency: As with household budgets – there is a limit to resources available (particularly financial) and to ensure priorities reflect those of the community, it is important to be able to demonstrate and communicate how and why decisions are made.
- Transport options which evolve with our area and growth to make everyone’s lives easier – including the Buckley Street level crossing and extension of tram lines where possible.
- Development that maintains the character of neighbourhoods and manages growth in areas which can sustain it.
- Support for local businesses who are critical to our community, and expansion of employment opportunities
What do you think are Moonee Valley's greatest strengths?
Our community - from welcoming and friendly neighbours, to dedicated local businesses, and passionate community groups, almost everyone I meet has a genuine interest in fostering our great community spirit.
We are an area that is diverse and vibrant in so many ways, with such a strong sense of history and connection to our community. Our pride in these factors and ambition to continually grow and flourish is our greatest asset.
