What you need to know

Libraries

Our libraries are more than books. In Moonee Valley you can book a room or computer, listen to music, exercise, print and photocopy, recycle, borrow seeds for a garden, learn new skills, join a book club and so much more.

Libraries update

As of Tuesday 10 November, Moonee Valley Libraries will be open to the public, resuming standard operating hours.

Our first priority remains the safety of our community and staff, as such we are continuing to follow the State Government’s guidelines around gathering limits and social distancing.

Your Library experience may look and feel a little different than usual, but as always, our team will be there to guide you through.

Please visit our library catalogue for details of the services we are able to provide.

FAQ

A new chapter of library programs is coming to Moonee Valley with Programs in the Park!

Our library may be closed but we are thrilled to be taking some of our much-loved programs outside of the library walls and into the community from Monday, 2 November.

Programs will include craft groups, English conversation class, Walking Talking Books and pre-school Storytime.

For more information on Programs in the Park or to book, visit our catalogue.

From Tuesday 10 November, the Library will be open for browsing and picking up reserves.

We encourage you to still take advantage of our Contactless Collection service if you have reserves, so you can pop in and out of the library quickly and safely.

To arrange this, simply;
1. Reserve your items using our online catalogue, and select your preferred pickup branch
2. Once you have made your reservation, and receive confirmation that the items have arrived in branch, ring the library on 9243 1900 to book in your collection time. Collection slots will be available at all branches daily during the week, between 10am – 12 noon and 2pm – 4pm, and between 9.30am – 11.30am on Saturdays. Please note, you need to book your slot at least 48 hours ahead.
3. Collection sites will be available near the front or rear entrance of each branch, depending on branch access. One of our friendly librarians will direct you on how to access your items when you call to book your pick up slot.
4. Your items will be already bundled under your name, and checked out to your account.
5. All you need to do is pick them up and hurry home to get stuck in!

For more information on Contactless Collection, visit our catalogue.

Yes, we are currently offering two delivery services to Moonee Valley residents.

Reunited with Your Reserves allows us to send patrons books that they have requested and are waiting for them back in branch. We are also offering Contactless Collection, so we ask that you call the library on 9243 1900 to organise delivery or pickup.

Library to Your Door connects eligible older or vulnerable users with a library staff member who curates and sends out a personalised collection of books to you.

All items currently on loan have been automatically renewed. Overdue charges don’t apply during this closure period. You can continue to hold on to library items at home and return once we reopen.

Yes, return chutes are now open 24/7 at all five library braches.
