As part of MV2040’s vision for a healthy city (as well as our Aquatic Leisure Centre Plan 2014-23), the renaming of the leisure facilities and signage is being developed to enhance access to and promote use of our leisure facilities.
The consistent and improved branding will create greater awareness of Council's programs and services, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices and promote residents to be active, physically, mentally and socially. Therefore, Council is proposing to rename four leisure centre facilities.
The renaming went out for public consultation, and Council is currently assessing community feedback.
We will remain in touch with members about any changes to the name of Ascot Vale Leisure Centre.
Ascot Vale Leisure Centre has always been, and remains a Council-owned facility. We enter into a contract with a leisure provider to run the facility, and Belgravia Leisure has held the contract since 2015. Council’s contract with Belgravia Leisure has concluded and given the current operating environment, Council will maintain the asset and continue to monitor the situation. The conclusion of the contract is in no way a reflection of the work of Belgravia Leisure, with whom Council has worked in partnership over the past 4 and half years.
