The doors may be closed, but our libraries are still operating

Quiet Storytime EB AUTUMN 2020

The bad news: in response to COVID-19 we’ve made the tough call to close Moonee Valley’s five library branches: Ascot Vale, Flemington, Niddrie, Sam Merrifield, Avondale Heights.

The good news: our dedicated staff are working behind the scenes to keep providing some library services.

Here’s the latest on our libraries:

  • Some of our regular programs have gone virtual. Simply visit our facebook page to take part –
    Toddler Time: Mondays at 10:30am
Baby Rhyme Time: Tuesdays at 10:30am
The Continuing Story: Wednesdays at 4pm
    Pre-school Storytime: Fridays at 10:30am
  • There’s still plenty of ways to keep informed and entertained: e-books, e-mags and e-audio are available for download through the library catalogue.
  • Book return chutes have now been closed.
  • Due dates for all items currently on loan have been extended, and no fines will be applied.
  • Our ‘little libraries’ will be restocked with sanitised pre-loved books.
  • Our staff will contact those who have items ready for collection.
  • Our home library service is still running through staff instead of volunteers, but nursing home deliveries and book club collections are suspended.

Have a question? We’re answering calls and taking questions on social media between 9am and 5pm.
