Young people stepping up to Clean Up!

grassroots group

Young Moonee Valley residents are hitting the streets to help tackle the climate emergency.

Council’s ‘Grassroots Group’ was created so residents aged 12- 25 can come together to share ideas and raise their voices to protect the environment.

Their first mission – bringing Clean Up Australia Day to our local neighbourhoods.

The group’s young members have planned a Clean Up Australia Day Event on Sunday, 1 March 2020 at L.T Thompson Reserve in Essendon.

They’re calling on the rest of the community to come along at 12 noon to lend a hand to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment.

Last year, Moonee Valley joined 58 councils across Australia in declaring climate change should be treated as a national emergency and these young people are leading the charge on change.

If you’re young and passionate about the environment The Grassroots Group could be for you!
