Young people will take centre stage this September as Moonee Valley Youth Services presents Youth Fest 2026, a month-long program of events designed to build connection, celebrate diversity and support young people’s wellbeing.
The headline event is called Glow Motion, and will be held on Friday, 11 September. It is designed and delivered by young people for young people. It is a free event that encourages participants to walk, jog, run or wheel through Queens Park, enjoying illuminated pathways, creative lighting installations, neon wayfinding, music, interactive elements, and much more. Presented in collaboration with Belgravia Leisure, Glow Motion will be held between 6pm and 8pm on 11 September at Queens Park, Moonee Ponds, for young people aged 12 to 25. While it is non-competitive, all participants will receive a commemorative finisher medal. This event is funded through Council’s ENGAGE grant and bookings are essential.
Other Youth Fest highlights include the Queer Youth Soiree, in partnership with Hobsons Bay City Council – a life-affirming, identity-celebrating night for LGBTQIA+ young people, friends and allies (aged 16 to 22). This year’s event is called West End – a celebration of everything musical, taking place on Friday, 18 September.
On Saturday, 26 September, participants can refresh their wardrobe, save money, and support sustainable fashion at the Clothing Swap Event. People can bring along clean, gently loved clothing and accessories and exchange them for some new treasures. The full list of events is below.
Mayor of Moonee Valley, Dr Rose Iser, said young voices have directly shaped Youth Fest 2026, to embrace diversity, create social connections and support youth mental health.
“We’re very proud of the young people who have created this program and spoken up about what Council needs to do to support them thrive,” Dr Iser said.
“By talking directly with young people, we’re able to identify and genuinely reflect their priorities. We’re proud that this program creates a safe and welcoming celebration.”
