The Woodlands Park Garage Studio will be buzzing with activity over the next few months, with the latest round of Artists in Residence selected and ready to begin work on their chosen projects.

The studio offers time, space and financial support to create, with each artist taking over for a period of eight-to-twelve weeks at a time to focus on a new work. The artists were selected after an open call out, and were assessed based on their artistic merit, viability of their proposed project, and alignment with Council’s Igniting Creativity Strategy.

The selected artists for the 2026-27 round are:

  • Sara Jajou – an Assyrian-Chaldean artist whose work honours collective memory, often weaving together the working-class perspectives and histories of her own family. Her outcomes include textiles, video projection and installation, sculpture, curation, writing and poetry.
  • Susanne Langley – a visual artist and researcher whose studio practice is rooted in experimental drawing, interactive technology and sound, using unconventional media such as conductive materials, found objects, field recordings and virtual reality to explore ideas of listening to spaces
  • Roy Malloy – a prolific true crime author and producer, Roy has written several true crime biographies, and produced a number of movies, cabaret titles, plays, children’s pantomimes and circus productions.
  • Amalie Rose – a rising music and portrait artist, who works with oil-on-canvas and is interested in the movement, emotion and atmosphere of live music. Her portrait work is often accompanied by a recorded interview with the subject.

Applications for future residency placements will open in May 2027.
