Celebrating Carers in Moonee Valley
15% of Moonee Valley residents told us they are informal carers for a friend or loved one. Throughout Carer's Week, we’re spotlighting them.
National Carers Week (11-17 October 2026) is a time to recognise and celebrate the selfless contributions of informal carers around the Country.
Carers are people who provide unpaid emotional, social, practical and/or financial support to family members and friends who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness or who are frail due to age (Victorian Carers Recognition Act 2012 – “the Act”).
To acknowledge the unsung carers of our city, we’re hosting a series of events to keep them informed, supported and engaged in their important roles. We’ll also be lighting up our Clocktower Centre to show support of carers in our community.

Move Moonee Valley Leisure Centres - AAA Swim and Social Program
Tuesday 13 October 1.30pm-2.30pm (KELC)
Saturday 17 October 1.30pm-2.30pm (AVLC)
Head to our Leisure Centres to partake in a FREE all abilities swim and finish up with a social cup of tea or coffee.
