Coronation Kindergarten redevelopment taking shape

Exciting progress is being made on the major redevelopment of Coronation Kindergarten, with the project on track to welcome children and families from Term 1, 2027.

Construction is moving ahead well, and the new classrooms are beginning to take shape. Bright, light-filled learning spaces are emerging, designed to support play, learning, collaboration and connection for local children.

Once completed, the upgraded kindergarten will provide modern, flexible spaces that support children, families and educators, while helping meet growing demand for early childhood services across Moonee Valley.

The redevelopment is part of the Victorian Government’s Building Blocks partnership, which is investing more than $20 million to upgrade five kindergartens across the municipality. Together, these projects are creating more than 500 additional kindergarten places by 2028–29, helping more local families access quality early childhood education close to home.

Two of the five projects have already been completed, with Montgomery Park Kindergarten and Lincolnville Kindergarten successfully redeveloped and reopened to the community.

Coronation Kindergarten and Milleara Gardens Kindergarten are both on track to open in Term 1, 2027, while Airport West Kindergarten is on track to open in 2028.

These projects reflect Council’s ongoing commitment to working in partnership with the Victorian Government to meet the increasing demand for kindergarten places and ensure local children have access to high-quality early learning opportunities.

The investment also supports integrated early years services, with kindergarten facilities co-located alongside maternal and child health services, creating convenient and connected support for families.
