Have your say on Moonee Valley’s Draft Budget 2026/27
Earlier this year, we introduced a new approach to our budget consultation process, giving the community the opportunity to have their say earlier through consultation on the 4‑Year Capital Works Program 2026/27-2029/30. We heard that people wanted to be involved sooner, and we have responded by shifting our process to ensure community voices help shape the draft budget from the outset.
The feedback received in February has informed the development of the Draft Budget 2026/27, which outlines how Council will responsibly allocate resources to deliver the services, programs and infrastructure our community relies on.
The Draft Budget 2026/27 proposes the delivery of $43.8 million in projects across Moonee Valley, including:
- Walter Street Reserve Pavilion Upgrade $1.35M
- Early Years Building Block Program at Airport West and Coronation Kindergartens $6.58M
- Playspace Renewal Program $1.2M
- Tree planting across streets, parks & open space $1.60M
We are now seeking community feedback and submissions on the Draft Budget 2026/27. This community input will help finalise the budget before it is adopted.
Every year, we prepare a budget that sets out how we will use resources responsibly and impactfully, to deliver the services, programs and infrastructure our community needs. It is important the community guides decision-making about how Council distributes these resources.
Developing our budget
Every year we prepare a budget that is guided by the priorities set out in our Council Plan – a legal requirement for all councils. Councillors attend workshops with staff to calculate the funding required to meet community needs and deliver vital services. Community input is essential to helping us create a place for all to belong, which is at the heart of our long-term MV2040 Community Vision and Strategy.
