  • Whitegoods and large metal appliances
    Freezers, refrigerators (for safety requirements freezer/fridge doors must be removed) stoves, washing machines, dryers, air-conditioners and dishwashers, hot water units.
  • Furniture
    Intact or broken household furniture, couches.
  • Timber
    Must be less than 1.5m long and neatly stacked. No nails or staples. (Maximum 10 pieces)
  • Paint tins
    Empty and dry paint tins with lids removed.
  • Ceramic
    Pottery, ceramics and chinaware. (Wrapped in cardboard or thicker paper, clearly marked)
  • Glass
    Excluding: Glass bottles, jars and other containers which is suitable for collection through the kerbside recycling collection service.
    Including: Intact mirrors, window panels and sheets safely wrapped and labelled (wrapped in cardboard or thicker paper, clearly marked 'glass').
  • Electronics – please remove all batteries
    TV screens and monitors, computers, laptops and tablets, scanners, copiers and printers, keyboard and mouse, hard drives, webcams, modems, USB drives, mobile phones, DVD and CD players, fax machines, alarm clocks, radios and cameras, wiring, power tools.
  • Sporting goods
    Old sporting goods and playground equipment (must be bundled & dismantled). Basketball stands/rings must be dismantled to 1.5m length.
  • Fabric
    Carpets, rugs and mats (no longer than 1.5m wide, rolled up and maximum of 20kgs, liftable to shoulder height by 1 person).
  • Lawnmowers & Edge Trimmers (defueled and oil removed)
  • Metal
    Small metal car parts weighing less than 20kg scrap metal (less than 1.5m in length) and other waste metal products metal tanks and drums with a diameter of 40cm or less roofing iron and guttering (less than 1.5m in length) and any other items of hard waste composed mainly of recyclable metal.
  • Solar panels
    Maximum 2 panels (safely wrapped, tied and labelled)
  • Building, home renovation or demolition material
    Building materials, including bricks, concrete, rubble, pavers, tiles, soil, rocks, excavation material and waste arising from renovation or demolition, roofing iron greater than 1.5m in length.
  • General waste or recycling
    Clay, soil, sand, stones, rubble, cardboard, styrofoam.
  • Liquids
    Including paints, oil, automotive fluids, garden sprays and fertilizers.
  • Waste
    Commercial, business or industrial waste.
  • Chemicals
  • Hazardous or offensive waste
    Including asbestos and ashes.
  • Car parts
    Car bodies (either whole or dismantled), car batteries, engine blocks, tyres or tyres on rims.
  • Green waste
    Can be collected as part of the fortnightly garden waste collection service.
  • Timber
    Fencing timber exceeding 1.5m long or in panels, wooden pallets.
  • Paint tins with lids on
  • Gas bottles or other hazardous material
  • Pillows, cushions, bedding, clothing or items in plastic bags

Maximum of 2 mattresses per property - mattresses placed out for collection are collected separately to the rest of your hard waste and will need to be placed in a separate pile.

Please note: Bed bases are to be included with hard waste not booked as a mattress collection. Electronic adjustable beds cannot be collected due to their weight.

Items must be able to be lifted to shoulder height by one person.

The maximum amount of hard waste to be collected is 2 cubic metres. That means the pile cannot be greater than 2m long, 1m high and 1m wide. (2m x 1m x 1m)

Your items for collection must be placed no more than 5m back from the front of your property boundary (not on the nature strip) and your collection items must be clear and free of obstructions and clearly identifiable (no veranda or carport placement).

Eligibility

Properties that pay the annual Waste Service charge are eligible for 2 free collections per year that run from 1 July to 30 June.

Properties with a private bin collection are not eligible for the free service but can purchase an at-call collection.

Cancelling your collection

To cancel your collection contact Council before 5pm on the Thursday before the week of booked collection.

If you fail to cancel the booked collection before this cut-off time, you will lose your hard waste collection entitlement.

Larger pruning collections (bundled green waste)

Council offers what is referred to as a “bundled green waste collection”. This is for tree and shrub branches and limbs that are too big for a FOGO bin. This can be ordered with a hard waste collection or on its own. Items must be able to be lifted to shoulder height by one person.
