A more comfortable, energy efficient future for Moonee Valley homes
Moonee Valley City Council recognises that cost can be one of the biggest challenges for residents wanting to make their homes more energy efficient, and that’s why the new Home Energy Upgrades Program is an important part of Council’s Let’s Go Zero program.
From today, Moonee Valley residents can access new rebates and incentives from accredited suppliers to help improve the comfort and energy efficiency of their homes.
According to the Victorian Government Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, the average Victorian home could save around $2,000 per year on their energy bills by switching from older, inefficient appliances to newer, more efficient electric appliances, when paired with solar panels.
Council’s Home Energy Upgrades Program includes support to Moonee Valley residents to transition from gas to induction cooktops, as well as access to subsidies for solar PV, electric heating and cooling, heat pump hot water systems, draught proofing and insulation.
Rebates and incentives range from $200 to $5,000, depending on the type of changes being made, the size of the dwelling and other eligibility criteria. Some subsidies will be capped or reserved for concession card holders only.
A key feature of the Home Energy Upgrades Program is the opportunity to stack Council subsidies with State Government rebates and incentives, which could make eligible energy efficiency upgrades even more affordable.
The Home Energy Upgrades Program is part of Let’s Go Zero, Moonee Valley Council’s broader program helping our community reduce carbon emissions as we work towards our target of net zero community carbon emissions by 2040.
