Aberfeldie Park Master Plan

Aberfeldie Park, located beside the Maribyrnong River, is a popular park with walkers and fitness groups. Dogs are able to exercise off leash here.

The park features:

  • Path networks to surrounding areas
  • Aberfeldie Athletics Track
  • Sporting facilities
  • Playgrounds and outdoor gym equipment
  • Car parking

The Aberfeldie Park Master Plan 2013 was prepared to ensure the appropriate and coordinated future development and management of Aberfeldie Park for the benefit of future generations.

The Master Plan is being progressively implemented over a number of years with many of the recommended actions underway.

Aberfeldie Park Wetland

A design has been prepared for a new wetland, proposed in the Aberfeldie Park master plan.

A concept design for the wetland (pdf, 2MB) was prepared, responding to feedback received during community consultation in 2015.

The wetland would help to:

  • improve the ecology of the Maribyrnong River by cleansing stormwater
  • provide habitat for local fauna
  • enhance the park landscape

The design also includes increased native planting, new walking paths and additional seating to allow visitors to enjoy the new wetland.

Construction of the wetland is subject to our annual budgeting processes.

Upgraded playspace

As part of the Master Plan implementation, the playspace at Aberfeldie Park North was upgraded and opened in April 2025.
