Older, wiser and festival ready!

This October, Moonee Valley residents will join the celebrations for the Victorian Seniors Festival 2026 and recognise the importance of connection, wellbeing and ageing well.

Council will host a month-long series of programs, events and activities including educational workshops, social programs, performances and information sessions with a launch event to be held on Tuesday, 13 October 2026 at the Clocktower Centre featuring keynote speaker, Denis Walter OAM.

Mayor of Moonee Valley, Dr Rose Iser, said the festival was a highlight of the council calendar and activities will be delivered facilities and community venues though-out the municipality.

“The golden years can be even brighter through solid connections, activity and well-being, and this festival is an introduction to everything you might have wanted to ask but not sure who to ask,” Cr Iser said.

The program includes:

  • Yoga, social book club, ballroom dancing and more – Bowes Avenue Community Centre
  • Gardening workshop, Fleming History Walk, Hearing Tests and more – Moonee Valley Libraries
  • Seniors Festival Launch Event featuring Denis Walter – Clocktower Centre
  • Seniors Expo with stallholders – Kellaway Avenue Neighbourhood Centre
  • My Aged Care information sessions – various locations

The Seniors Festival Launch Event will be held on Tuesday, 13 October between 10am – 12:30pm at the Clocktower Centre.

Keynote speaker will be Denis Walter OAM with presentations from Ambulance Victoria and the Victoria Police and a performance from the Ros Hendy Tap Dancers. The main prize of the raffle will be a $200 Coles gift card.

The Seniors Expo will be held on Monday, 26 October between 10am – 12pm at the Kellaway Avenue Neighbourhood Centre, Moonee Ponds, and will connect older residents with local services, community groups and support organisations, providing information about programs, services and opportunities available within the community.

The 2026 program is supported through the Victorian Seniors Festival Active Living Grant from the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.
