Join us for the Great Southern BioBlitz at Moonee Ponds Creek
Discover all the critters, creatures, bugs and plants that call Moonee Ponds Creek home at this year’s Great Southern BioBlitz.
Join us between 10am and 1pm on Sunday, 29 November at the reimagined Moonee Ponds Creek site, on the corner of Brosnan Crescent and Odin Street, Strathmore. Help count, collect and record the incredible biodiversity found along the creek using the iNaturalist app.
Whether you’re a nature enthusiast or simply curious about the wildlife in your neighbourhood, local experts will be on hand to help identify plants and animals and show you how to contribute observations.
The event will include aquatic wildlife sampling with Melbourne Water, birdwatching opportunities and a bug specialist. Plus, every observation contributes to a better understanding of the Creek’s biodiversity and helps support environmental monitoring and restoration efforts.
This BioBlitz is a joint collaboration between Merri-bek City Council, Moonee Valley City Council and Melbourne Water, and forms part of the global Great Southern BioBlitz initiative which connects communities documenting local biodiversity.
Come along and help showcase our amazing wildlife.
