Waste programs and accessible services

We're trailing new bin stickers to help residents who are blind or have low vision identify their bins by touch.

The stickers use braille and raised letters to identify:

• General rubbish
• Recycling
• FOGO

The stickers are designed to go on the top lid of your bin, where they can be identified by touch. We recommend asking a family member, friend or carer to apply the sticker for you and show you where it is located.

Request a sticker

Stickers are available on request during the trial. Call Customer Service on 9243 8888 to request a sticker. You can also ask one of our Council Officers to apply the sticker to your bin when we deliver it to your property. Council will need your authorisation to enter your property and apply the sticker.

You can now drop off the same items currently accepted at the Transfer Station without needing a vehicle to access it through our Moonee Valley Transfer Station walk, wheel and cycle-up extension.
This is to make Moonee Valley's services more accessible, and recycling more achievable for everyone.

The extension is open at the same times as the Transfer Station listed below. Please note that Depot reception has also relocated to the extension.

• batteries, mobiles phone and vapes
• bicycle tubes and tyres
• computers and cables
• comingled recycling, cardboard, glass
• light globes and tubes
• mixed metals
• polystyrene
• print cartridges
• small appliances
• soft plastics
• Tetra Paks

We've set up recycling hubs in selected Council facilities including libraries to make recycling odd items more accessible and convenient for our community.

You can drop off batteries, cables, light globes and tubes and print cartridges at:

• the Moonee Valley Civic Centre
• Sam Merrifield Library
• Niddrie Library
• Avondale Heights Library and Learning Centre

And soft plastics can be disposed of at:

• Niddrie Library
• Avondale Heights Library and Learning Centre
