Project type: Current project

Moonee Valley racecourse precinct diagram

Since 2011 the Moonee Valley Racing Club (MVRC) has been planning for a major redevelopment of their racecourse site within Moonee Ponds. This will ultimately include a new grandstand on Wilson Street and upgraded racetrack.

The MVRC is also undertaking major redevelopment of the land surrounding the track and Grandstand (Moonee Valley Park – Hamton/Hostplus development) which is a separate project.

Council's role

We have been actively involved in the planning process, advocating on behalf of our community to ensure that any development on the site is appropriate and takes into consideration impacts on traffic, environment, heritage, amenity and the community themselves.
