Pets Day Out: Cliff Whitworth Dog Park Opening 20.08.22

Grab your four-legged friends, Cliff Whitworth Reserve Dog Park is opening soon!
You’re invited to join us for a Pets Day Out on Saturday, 20 August 2022 at 10am to celebrate the opening.
Here’s all the details:
- DATE: Saturday 20 August 2022
- TIME: 10am – 11am (official proceedings and ribbon cutting ceremony)
- LOCATION: Cliff Whitworth Reserve, 37A Emerald Street, Essendon West.
- FREE: coffee, tea, hot chocolate & snacks thanks to a pop-up coffee cart.
- FREE: hand made dog treats from a local business.
The new Cliff Whitworth Reserve Dog Park is a fully fenced, exclusive dogs-only area for you to connect with others and exercise your dogs safely.
The new dog park’s awesome features include:
- an open run-about area for exercise
- a rock scramble for climbing and seating
- a quiet agility area to build confidence in dogs
- amenities including double-entry gates, seating, bins with waste bags, a drinking fountain with a spill-able dog bowl and signage
- additional tree and garden bed planting all around the dog park for greening and increased natural shade.
- a separate ‘small dog’ area for little pooches to play safely without boisterous big dogs.
The project was funded thanks to the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning’s $5 million ‘New Dog Parks Program‘ that established 14 new dog parks in metro Melbourne. The initiative falls under the $50 million ‘Local Parks Program’ which provides communities in dense, urban areas with the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of green open space such as relaxing, socialising and exercising.
Council listened to residents’ feedback from consultations held in 2020 and 2021 via YourSay about a new fenced dog park in Moonee Valley, and we’re excited to officially open this dedicated space for our furry friends at Cliff Whitworth Reserve.
