Have Your Say on Council’s Draft Fraud and Corruption Control Policy

Fraud and corruption
Moonee Valley City Council is inviting community feedback on its Draft Fraud and Corruption Control Policy, reinforcing a zero-tolerance approach to dishonest or unethical behaviour.

Council is committed to preventing, detecting, reporting and responding to fraud and corruption across all areas of its operations. Public consultation on the draft policy is open now until 23 June.

A recent review of Council’s existing governance framework identified opportunities to further strengthen its approach to managing fraud and corruption risks. This includes enhancing measures to prevent, detect or report misconduct, particularly in an environment shaped by evolving digital communication and increasing community expectations for transparency and accountability.

Recognising that maintaining integrity is an ongoing process, Council is focused on continuously improving its systems and practices. Community input plays a key role in this effort, helping to support transparent decision-making and reinforce a strong culture of ethical behaviour.

The draft policy is in alignment with council’s MV2040 Theme: Trusted, which was adopted to strengthen the trusted relationship between Council and the community.

Before the policy is presented to Council for final endorsement, feedback will be gathered from community members and key stakeholders, including staff and Council’s Audit and Risk Committee.

Community members are encouraged to have their say before consultation closes on 23 June 2026 via Home | Your Say Moonee Valley
