Outdoor swimming continues through winter

Moonee Valley City Council is trialling keeping the outdoor pool at Keilor East Leisure Centre open for reduced hours throughout winter.

Moonee Valley Mayor Samantha Byrne said many community members told us they would like to use the outdoor pool year-round.

“Given that Keilor East Leisure Centre is a new facility, we would like to monitor the patronage of the outdoor 50 metre pool throughout a whole year to understand when it is used and set its future opening hours based on when people want to use it,” said Cr Byrne.

“From May until September, the outdoor pool will be open for six hours on weekdays and three hours on weekends.

“The outdoor pool is heated to around 28 degrees, and is open for everyone, not just residents, so if you’re looking for a place to swim or workout, particularly during the cooler months, then come along to Keilor East Leisure Centre,” said Cr Byrne.
