Lincolnville Kindergarten Redevelopment

The completion date for Lincolnville Kindergarten has now been delayed, and the opening of the new building will now take place in time for Term 2, 2026, due to unanticipated additional design and approval requirements for service connection with Greater Western Water.

All children who are currently enrolled for Term 1, 2026, have been relocated to either Airport West or Milleara Gardens Kindergartens and will be contacted directly by our central registration team to confirm these arrangements.

Both MVCC and the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work through these interim arrangements.

Lincolnville Kindergarten is due to begin demolition on 2 August, with site works due to begin in the following weeks.

Exciting progress is being made on the Lincolnville Kindergarten Redevelopment, with the project now in its design phase. Based on community feedback from our first consultation in late 2024, the redevelopment aims to provide flexible and open-ended play environments, improve parking outcomes, and prioritise tree retention and planting.

After careful consideration of different siting options, we have selected the optimal location for the new kindergarten. This decision was made in collaboration with the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) and ensures the best possible outcomes across key factors, including:

• play space quality
• impacts on neighbouring residents
• safety and accessibility
• supervision and licensing requirements.

The chosen site preserves the healthiest and most suitable trees while also creating space for new canopy tree planting within the property. While the new building extends beyond the current fenced boundary, this will result in a net gain of 200 sqm of open public space.

Demolition of the old kindergarten is due to begin in July with tree removal starting in the next 2 weeks.

Scheduled to begin in 2025, this project is due for completion in January 2026. Lincolnville kindergarten is currently in planning stages. As details on siting and design becomes available we will be sharing more information on this webpage. The redevelopment will deliver improvements including:

• three rooms to replace the current single room
• capacity for 66 more children
• retention of the double maternal health suites.
