Move in March with us!

A group of primary school aged children walk, ride, and scoot alongside their families as they walk to school.

Schools, kindergartens and childcares across our city are gearing up to participate in Moonee Valley City Council's Move in March Walk to School Month in 2024.

Move in March is a Better Moves Around Schools and Let's Go Zero initiative, proudly presented by Moonee Valley City Council. We're encouraging families to lace up those runners and buckle up that helmet and get moving this March.

With over 8000 students registered already, thousands of families are taking up the challenge by walking, scooting, cycling or skating to and from school, kinder or childcare as many times as possible during March for the chance to win awesome prizes up for grabs.

Another great initiative happening this month is National Ride2School Day on Friday, 22 March. Hundreds of thousands of students across Australia will join Moonee Valley to ride, scoot, skate or walk to school.

Get moving!

We're encouraging all Moonee Valley schools to get involved in Move in March Walk to School Month. There are so many great reasons to participate, and getting active is more fun when you do it together!

Besides the many health benefits for you and your child, walking to school has benefits for the whole community. It reduces traffic congestion, saves on parking, helps us connect with family and friends and even saves the environment! Not only that, but it's a great opportunity to learn about road safety and instilling vital skills in your child.

Find your school on the map and then work out the best walking route to school. If you live too far to walk all the way you can park at one of our designated Park and Walk locations and walk, cycle or scoot from there.

Awesome prizes to be won

Walk, ride, scoot or skate every day, even part way is okay! During this month, be sure to fill in the Challenge Passport with your child or teen for a chance to win prizes including:

  • $100 Rebel Sport vouchers
  • Family swim passes
  • Sports drink bottles
