A vision for Windy Hill

We know you love Windy Hill – and so do we! Check out our draft vision for the well-known recreation reserve in Essendon and help shape its future.
Over the past nine months we’ve reached out to thousands of residents, community groups and other key stakeholders and asked you to share your vision for the future of Windy Hill.
We’ve now taken all your ideas and formed a draft vision for Windy Hill that will aim to make the precinct a place where people will be proud of for generations to come.
“People have told us they want Windy Hill to be a place they’re proud of, with quality opportunities for sport, recreation, leisure, events and lifelong learning,” Moonee Valley Mayor Cr Narelle Sharpe said.
“They also want Windy Hill to be a culturally and socially rich precinct that acknowledges the past, that champions gender equity, and that features high-quality sustainable architecture with innovative technology.”
The draft vision looks at opening the space up to the community so it’s a place where people can enjoy sport, leisure and fitness, while also acknowledging the rich history of the site.
It looks at reducing the amount of infrastructure currently at the site so the whole precinct is more user-friendly, with plenty of open space and trees, and that is easy and safe to access by walking, cycling or public transport.
The vision also aims to deliver on a key priority of our long-term vision for Moonee Valley, MV2040, by creating a community hub for Essendon.
Have your say on the draft vision by Sunday, 6 October.
