BMX jumps removed in Aberfeldie Park
Due to ongoing safety concerns and after careful consideration, Council has removed the BMX jumps located at Aberfeldie Park.
During the pandemic lockdowns, there was an increased interest in mountain bike and BMX activities in the municipality, and as a result community members constructed informal tracks and jumps in parks, with Aberfeldie Park being one of them.
Community engagement was undertaken in 2024 to test the ideas of including bikes as a formal use in Aberfeldie Park in future, and some potential trail location alignments.
We love to see the local community using utilising council spaces and parks and encourage everyone to visit other bike tracks within the municipality at Fanny Street Reserve and Montgomery Park.
Additionally, there are bike tracks just outside of Moonee Valley at the Footscray Pump Track at Mervyn G Hughes Oval and Holland Park BMX & Pump Track in Kensington. Alternative uses for the area at Aberfeldie Park will be further examined as part of the Maribyrnong River Cultural Precinct Plan.
