Every year, we prepare a budget that sets out how we will use resources responsibly and impactfully, to deliver the services, programs and infrastructure our community needs. It is important the community guides decision-making about how Council distributes these resources.

We have changed our budget consultation process this year, following ongoing feedback that the community would like to have their say earlier. We have listened to this feedback and are responding with a new process that allows the community to suggest submissions into our 4-year Capital Works Program. We will use these contributions to inform our Budget 2026/27.

The Budget 2026/27 is still being developed and will include funding for the capital works program, as well as Council services and programs. Feedback and submissions received during this period will help inform budget priorities before decisions are finalised.

This Capital Works Program has been prepared to deliver $148.8 million.

Some of the major capital works projects include:

  • Walter Street Reserve Pavillion Upgrade
  • Early Years Building Block Program at Airport West and Coronation kindergartens
  • Playspace Renewal Program
  • Gas Boiler Conversion Program
  • Developing our budget

Every year we prepare a budget that is guided by the priorities set out in our Council Plan – a legal requirement for all councils. Councillors attend workshops with staff to calculate the funding required to meet community needs and deliver vital services. Community feedback is essential to helping us create a place for all to belong, which is at the heart of our long-term MV2040 Community Vision and Strategy.
