Clifton Park Pavilion upgrade a win for community sport

The Clifton Park Pavilion Upgrade project is set to commence in mid-to-late 2023, marking a significant milestone in enhancing community facilities in the area.
At an estimated cost of $8 million, this transformative initiative, which will be delivered over 2023/24 and 2024/25, aims to meet the evolving needs of the Aberfeldie Sports Club and provide multipurpose use opportunities for other community groups in the area. Council’s approved total budget for 2023/24 includes $51.97 million in capital works and $212 million for critical community services.
The new multipurpose pavilion is designed to accommodate the requirements of both football and cricket teams and will be a central hub for sports and community activities. It will serve as a modern and inclusive space for players and officials, spectators, and visitors, elevating the overall sporting experience in Clifton Park.
Key features and highlights of the Clifton Park Pavilion Upgrade include:
- Boost for female sport: The pavilion is set to include two large gender-neutral change rooms which can be split into four smaller change rooms, to improve scheduling flexibility as female sport continues to flourish.
- New multi-use rooms: Two multipurpose rooms will be provided to accommodate the needs of both the sporting clubs and non-sporting community groups.
- Enhanced amenities: The pavilion design incorporates key actions from the master plan, including the addition of new public toilets. This upgrade ensures convenient and accessible facilities for all users, promoting inclusivity and meeting the highest standards of comfort.
- Improved sustainable infrastructure: The new pavilion will be highly efficient, fossil fuel free and will be built with lower carbon materials. The building aims to achieve a 5 Star Green Star Building rating under the Green Building Council of Australia certification. The relocation of the large stormwater harvesting oval irrigation tank underground will optimise space utilisation and contribute to the aesthetic appeal of the park.
Moonee Valley City Council Mayor, Cr Pierce Tyson said We are delighted that this project has been included in the Council Budget 2023/24 and the Council Plan Initiatives 2023/24, reaffirming our commitment to investing in high-quality sport and recreation facilities that cater to the diverse needs of our residents.
