Turn your passion project into a reality as we open up our first round of our 2024-25 Community Grants program!

Need funding to get your big idea off the ground? You’re in luck! Our first round of Community Grants for 2024-25 are now open for applications until 5pm 29 September 2024. Applicants are encouraged to make a submission for projects that will take place from November 2024 within 12 months.

We want to hear from you! We’re encouraging community groups, local businesses, artist or First Peoples to apply for a variety of grants including:

  • Community Projects up to $10,000 for one-off programs, pilot projects, small capital works, accessibility improvements and more.
  • Climate Action grants of up to $10,000 for energy transitions including solar power or energy audits. As well as $2,000 for climate resilience projects including tree planting or climate awareness.
  • Business Projects up to $5,000 for local businesses and Traders Associations to deliver events supporting local precincts and the night time economy, energy transitions (including solar), accessibility improvements.
  • Social Support Grants up to $1,500 to support the operations of local volunteer-run community groups.
  • Arts & Events Grants for up to either $5,000 for smaller projects such as exhibitions or productions, or $10,000 for larger projects including larger events or public murals.
  • First Peoples Grant with $10,000 available to allocate to First Peoples-led projects that celebrate culture and promote opportunities for self-determination.
  • NEW: Extraordinary Community Support Grant, a one-off grant up to $50,000 for eligible community organisations seeking financial support from Council for extraordinary circumstances.

Grant writing workshops

Grant writing can be tricky. If you need help with your application we’re here to help! Get support directly from us with our free grant writing workshops which will be held throughout the open round.

  • Wednesday September 4, 2024, 6pm – 8pm: Register online via Zoom.
  • Wednesday September 11, 2024, 10am – 12pm: Register online via Zoom.
  • Tuesday September 17, 2024, 1pm – 3pm: In person, MVCC Civic Centre, 9 Kellaway Avenue Moonee Ponds. Register.
