Council business summary November to December 2022

Your elected Councillors meet twice a month to debate Council business, set strategic objectives and make decisions on behalf of the community. Here are some of the decisions made and discussions held over the past few months:
29 November 2022
Council’s 29 November meeting included:
- The draft Bagarru Bagarru Djerring Reconciliation Plan, Policy and Statement of Commitment to the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Peoples were unanimously endorsed for public exhibition. A report for final endorsement will be presented in February 2023.
- The Flemington Hub’s new name Djerring Flemington Hub was unanimously endorsed.
- The Final Riverside Sport and Recreation Precinct Plan was unanimously endorsed.
- Contracts for sports field floodlight upgrades, Keilor Road South streetscape construction and the Flemington Library refurbishment were awarded.
13 December 2022
Public infrastructure and services were a focus in Council’s 13 December meeting with signage, Biannual Grants and business plans on the agenda.
- Council noted the community standards for signage in sporting grounds and reserves with some amendments. Friends of Moonee Ponds Creek and other environmental groups will be further consulted about the placement of signs near sensitive landscapes.
- The funding recommendations for the 2022/23 Round 1 Biannual Grants stream was endorsed, noting that all successful applicants will be published on Council’s website and unspent funds will be allocated to Round 2 for 2022/23.
- The statutory process to renew the Special Rates and Charges for Flemington, Niddrie and Union Road business precincts from 2023 to 28 was endorsed.
- The consultation on the Djerring Flemington Hub business plan was endorsed.
- The decision to award a contract for the construction for the A.J. Davis Playspace was endorsed.
