E-bike safety tips!

School holidays are in full swing and it’s the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the outdoors!
With more kids out and about on their e-bikes, it’s important to make sure everyone stays safe while having fun.
Cycling can be an exciting way to explore, but it’s also essential to be mindful of others on shared paths especially on an electric bike.
Here are some easy tips to keep everyone safe:
• Ride at a safe speed. It’s all about finding balance! Enjoy the breeze, but make sure you are at a slow enough pace so that you can stop quickly if you need to. This is especially important around pedestrians, so always be ready to slow down. Make sure you are keeping an eye on the speed signs.
• Give way to pedestrians. Cyclists are required to give way to pedestrians. This means making sure you’re always aware of those walking on the path so everyone can move around easily.
• Use your bell or voice. Before passing other riders or pedestrians, give a friendly ring of your bell or use your voice to let them know you’re coming.
• Stay on the designated paths. Make sure you aren’t riding into our beautiful parks, ovals and greens spaces. Please stay on the designated paths.
Riding safely helps everyone enjoy the outdoors and it’s a fun way to stay active these holidays.
