Fanny Street Reserve cameras to keep parks safe for all
Patrons of Fanny Street Reserve in Essendon might notice two new cameras inside the much-loved park.
These devices are part of a pilot effort to monitor for unsafe or illegal e-Vehicle use.
Moonee Valley believes e-Vehicles are an important part of a sustainable and active transport ecosystem. But our community and local police are reporting an increase in dangerous misuse of e-Vehicles, like e-Bikes and e-Scooters. In some cases, our beautiful parks, paths and amenities have been damaged by e-Vehicle users.
Council is installing the temporary CCTV cameras as a deterrent.
Council’s security team will use the cameras to surveil the area and report to police when e-Vehicles enter the reserve, cause disruption or damage property.
