A public art installation brightening our streets
We developed a series of community beautification projects to increase the vibrancy of our public spaces. We’re transforming streets near you with public art installations, aiming to attract both residents and visitors – and in turn support local business.
The 118 Glass Street Story
In late 2021 the developer of private land at 118 Glass Street approached Council with an idea to increase vibrancy in the area. The developer suggested we work with Essendon North Village Traders Association (ENVTA), to use the temporarily vacant and visually prominent site for a large scale mural.
Council worked hard to bring this concept to life and we are thrilled with the finished product: a striking, custom illustrated mural on the external hoarding of 118 Glass Street, Essendon North.
This public art initiative was made possible with the help of the Victorian Government’s COVID Safe Outdoor Activation Fund, the owner/developer of this property, the Essendon North Traders’ Association, artist Sasha Heath, and last but not least, the local community in Essendon North.
We hope you enjoy taking a dive into the heart and soul of the Essendon North – celebrating the history, culture and local icons that make it such a much-loved place to live, work and play.
