‘Healthy, vibrant, welcoming’: Council endorses refreshed long-term strategy and community vision
“A healthy, vibrant and welcoming community where everyone is visible and valued.”
That’s the start of a new community vision statement endorsed by Moonee Valley councillors at their October meeting.
Drafted by an advisory panel of community members, and with feedback from the broader public, Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung representatives and Councillors, the vision statement also imagines a Moonee Valley where:
- good planning has created beautiful, inclusive neighbourhoods
- environmental sustainability and green open spaces are valued
- First Peoples and their culture are thriving, visible and included
- everyone can live, work and play locally and safely.
The community vision is part of Council’s refreshed long-term strategy, MV2040, which was endorsed on Tuesday night.
The reworked document includes a new theme, Trusted, that makes clear Council’s commitment to the principles of integrity, accountability and transparency.
Existing themes – Fair, Thriving, Connected, Green and Beautiful – also remain at the heart of the strategy.
The new vision statement and refreshed MV2040 strategy follows 18 months of listening to residents, business owners, community groups and visitors.
Council also endorsed a suite of related plans, including:
- Council Plan 2025-29 (incorporating Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan and the Disability Action Plan)
- Annual Plan 2025-26
- Asset Plan 2025-35
- Financial Plan 2025-35
The full documents will soon be available on the Moonee Valley City Council website.
