Incinerator Art Award Call for Entries

The call for entries for the Incinerator Gallery’s annual contemporary art prize, the Incinerator Art Award, has just opened.

Now in its eighth year, the Incinerator Art Award pays homage to Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony, who believed that art and architecture are ethical enterprises that should aim to bring about positive social change.

With a total non-acquisitive prize pool of $12,000, the award celebrates contemporary arts practices that are socially engaged, environmentally aware, and seek to enrich community through dynamic, creative practice.

Four key Awards of $2,500, as judged by a panel of industry professionals, will be presented to shortlisted artists on opening night, along with a Mayoral Award of $1,000. A People’s Choice Award of $1,000 will then be awarded at the close of the exhibition.

Free to enter, the Incinerator Art Award is open to all visual art forms and welcomes submissions from artists across the country addressing the theme of Art for Social Change.

Works will be selected based on a demonstrated relationship to the theme of the award.

All shortlisted works will be exhibited in the Incinerator Gallery from Friday, 16 September – Sunday, 30 October 2022, with winners being announced at the exhibition opening on Friday, 16 September.
