Exciting training opportunities for young people

Have a young person who wants to kickstart their employment journey or learn a new skill? Register into our upcoming courses as part of our Level Up program!
We know it can be tricky for young people to crack into the workforce. Sometimes, the perfect job is just a short course or training session away. Because of this, we’re running a series of exciting training and certification opportunities to add to your teen or young adults resume. These low cost, interactive, and fun workshops can help improve their employ-ability and get them into a job they love! Already secured a job? Awesome! You’re still welcome to register into the course to learn a new skill to add to that already impressive resume.
Responsible Service of Alcohol Course
If your teen or young adult has a budding passion for the hospitality, retail or events industry, this opportunity is right up their ally. This course, delivered by iVet, covers:
- The legal requirements for serving alcohol in Australia
- Strategies for preventing intoxication and identifying and managing potentially intoxicated patrons
- Understanding the effects of alcohol on the body and how to recognise signs of alcohol-related harm
- Strategies for handling difficult situations, such as refusing service and dealing with aggressive patrons
Besides being tonnes of fun, upon completion, all participants will receive a certificate from Liquor Control Victoria. This is a requirement from all Victorian employers serving or distributing alcohol.

Time: Please arrive at 8:45am. The course will go from 9am-4pm with breaks throughout.

Introduction to Auslan Course
Join us for our beginner’s introduction to Auslan led by guest facilitator Hadley (she/they) from OpenThatDoor. In this workshop we’ll get an understanding of D/deaf culture and history as well as greetings, the basics for conversational Auslan, plus hobbies and games to get you started in understanding and communicating Auslan.

This workshop is for young people aged 12 – 18 who live, study, work or hang out in Moonee Valley. Interested? Be sure to register early via our Eventbrite page as spots are limited.
Barista Course – SOLD OUT
Does your teen or young person love the cafe vibe? Who doesn’t! If they’re considering a job in the hospitality industry, we encourage them to sign up to our barista course.
Delivered by Jesuit Social Services, this course will cover:
- Basic skills in using a commercial espresso machine
- Greater understanding of what makes a good barista
- Improved skills and confidence to look for work
- Pathway to further training
Upon completion, all participants will receive a certificate of completion which can be used to support employment pathways into cafe, restaurant and other hospitality work.
